Born and raised in the United Arab Emirates, Mariam Al Qattan’s early aesthetic consciousness was profoundly shaped by the region’s contemporary architectural renaissance, characterized by clean geometric lines and avant-garde luxury. Her deep-seated passion for the roots of Oriental arts eventually led her to move to Egypt, embarking on a profound immersion into the historic depths of Islamic, Fatimid, and Coptic art traditions.
A graduate with honors from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Mariam chose to refine her academic mastery through rigorous hands-on labor within the oldest traditional craft workshops of historic Cairo (such as Al-Jamaliya, Al-Darb Al-Ahmar, and Al-Ghuriya). There, she studied under legendary master craftsmen in glass-cutting and lead-soldering. Today, she stands as one of the most prominent contemporary figures who have successfully elevated a traditional craft into a globally recognized form of fine art and architectural design tailored for modern luxury palaces and elite spaces.
“I forge a visual bridge between the timeless grandeur of the past and the luxury of contemporary design, weaving the historic soul of Cairo with the ambitious spirit of Dubai. My work is not merely shaping matter; it is an attempt to capture floating light and transform it into architecture that speaks to the soul.”
Mariam Al Qattan’s creations showcase distinct, rigid visual and stylistic elements that define her signature brand:
Mariam Al Qattan’s artistic journey underwent fundamental transformations that culminated in her current creative maturity. Her first phase focused primarily on “Luxury Desktop Accent Lamps & Small Light Sculptures” (such as the Paradise Lantern), where the main objective was testing material flexibility and understanding light behavior within confined dimensions.
Her second transformation emerged with “Embedded Wall Panels” (such as the Lunar Mishkat), where her works took on an architectural nature, integrating seamlessly with concrete and stone walls.
Her ultimate Artistic Maturity is manifested in her current transition into “Monumental Site-Specific Architectural Projects” (such as the giant Tree of Life window). Liberated from traditional artistic boundaries, the stained glass artwork has now become an inseparable organ of grand royal architecture, interacting dynamically with natural elements like reflecting pools, high elevations, and deep ambient night shadows.

Beyond the captivating synthesis of her artistic sanctuary, Mariam Al Qattan embodies a life fueled by an insatiable passion for exploration, wellness, and profound human connections. She seamlessly balances her rigorous creative pursuits by venturing into the wild, where ascending majestic mountain peaks and navigating boundless coastlines serve as her ultimate canvas for mindfulness and creative rejuvenation. An avid global traveler and heritage enthusiast, she continuously seeks inspiration within world-class museums, absorbing ancestral craftsmanship to enrich her modern vision. Yet, amidst her dynamic lifestyle and dedication to morning outdoor fitness rituals that sharpen her focus, she remains deeply anchored in the warmth of her family. For Mariam, these intimate family gatherings and spontaneous moments of joy are the true sanctuary that grounds her spirit and fuels her optimistic, soul-driven outlook on life.
Both in her daily public appearances and inside her private studio, Mariam Al Qattan maintains a visual persona of supreme elegance and cultural dignity. She consistently wears a beautifully tailored, modern draped Abaya coupled with her signature Emerald Green Hijab—her favorite hue, which acts as a spiritual stamp across most of her glass masterpieces. Working with absolute confidence and grit, she expertly handles heavy artisan equipment (such as steel glass-cutters and industrial soldering irons). She prefers working in quiet, low-lit environments to precisely observe the explosion of light radiating from her stained glass panels.
